As if the winter break wasn’t long enough, Australia is now over and we have another break already - three weeks til the next race in Baku!
If you, like us, spent most of the winter break indoors, twiddling your thumbs and waiting for F1 to return - you are probably wondering what to do with yourself for the next three weekends!
Well dear reader, you are in luck, we’ve got your back! We are here to share our favourite ways to spend your weekends whilst we are waiting (again) for the return of F1.
1: Wait for F1 to return
Sounds a bit boring, doesn't it? A bit lonely and exactly what we are trying to avoid.. Luckily for you, we have nine other suggestions below though, if you don’t fancy sitting around and waiting.
2: Rewatch some classic races
Is there any better way to sit around missing racing, than opening up your F1TV app and rewatching some old races? Relive the happy moments, relive the bad ones (if you’re into that type of thing) or just enjoy some good racing from the past! Here are our top 5 races to watch on repeat:
Monza 2019
HE WINS IN SPA, HE WINS IN MONZA
need we say more?
Monaco 2018
Brazil 2021
Brazil 2012
Canada 2011
3: Go Karting
Fancy yourself the next Max Verstappen, used to getting speeding tickets (we won’t tell - you’re not alone 😉) or have taken inspiration from the latest Quadrant Mario Kart video? Why not head down to your local karting track with your GATG gals - and if you want to spice it up, turn it into a mini tournament, the loser buys the first round of drinks!
4: Rewatch "Drive to Survive" on Netflix
Some people love it, some people hate it - just like Marmite! But you can’t deny that it's a great source of entertainment, with a side serving of drama. For a bit of nostalgia over the past few seasons, get yourself onto Netflix pronto! How many times can you rewatch before Baku?
5: Learn Italian
We was going to add, learn a new hobby, but for the Ferrari fans among us - we recommend learning Italian! Not only will you be able to chat with our favourite C2 duo, you will also be able to shout at the Ferrari team, hopefully with positive affirmations and feedback for the rest of the season (we are manifesting right? Ferrari reputation era RIGHT?!)
6: Sim Racing
If karting is not an authentic enough F1 experience for you, get yourself on a simulator. Enjoy the thrills of driving a high speed, without the danger of actually crashing! If you are in the UK, F1 Arcade is a new bar in London based by St Pauls with a huge number of racing sims - have a race, and then follow it with some of the tastiest cocktails and food around London!
7: Discover a new type of racing
Do you know where your nearest racing track is? Some of the girls from GATG London & South East will be heading to Brands Hatch over the break, to watch Truck Racing! Find your nearest race track, check out the events, and discover something new!
8: Vintage shopping, try to find old F1 merchandise
We all know how expensive brand new merch can be, and we have all seen those TikTok’s of fans with their thrifted merch! Do something positive for the environment, and rescue some old F1 merchandise from your local charity, thrift or vintage shops!
9: Study engineering and apply for a job at Ferrari
Is this satire? Maybe. We know that studying something new in three weeks might not make you an expert - but maybe you’ll find the knowledge Ferrari are lacking? Do we have the next best strategist reading? Who knows… but you never know unless you try right?
10: Mario Kart tournament
The only question here, is why wouldn’t you? Mario Kart is iconic! Get your friends together, in-person or via an online tournament, and try some racing with a Nintendo twist! Corryn’s character of choice is Rosalia, Alicia’s character of choice is Mario - we’ll see you on Rainbow Road!
We hope you find something here, to kill your time over this extended break - post pictures via social media if you find yourself taking up any of our suggestions, don’t forget to tag us!
The countdown to Baku has started 👀
We’ll be back when Summer Break begins, with our favourite summer activities.. see you soon!
