F1 Academy star Carrie Schreiner has joined Sauber Academy and will represent them in the upcoming F1 Academy season following the departure of fellow Sauber Academy driver, and her former teammate, Léna Bühler from the series.

Sauber Academy have already had a taste of success in F1 Academy with Bühler being the vice-champion for the 2023 season. She has now left the series due to reaching the maximum age limit to compete. Schreiner will instead take the Sauber F1 Academy seat and will also be making the move from ART Grand Prix to Campos Racing.

In the 2023 season, Schreiner finished 11th in the standings, with her best weekend being at Zandvoort, where she took the win in Race 2 ,P6 in Race 2, and P8 in Race 3. Other strong weekends for the German racer included Monza and Le Castellet.

Prior to F1 Academy, Schreiner began her racing career, like all great drivers, in karting, in which she competed from 2011-2014 and claimed the 2012 X30 junior championship title. She then competed in Formula 4 before switching to GT cars via the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series.

In 2018, she won the Pro-Am category in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East series and started competing in the Nürburgring Endurance Series, while also becoming one of the founders of  the "Girls Only" program by WS Racing, to help encourage women into the sport.

Impressively, Schreiner has competed in 4 Nürburgring 24 hours races, winning her class in 2021. Additionally, from 2017-2019, Carrie also competed In the DMV GT & Touring Car Cup, winning the championship in 2018 and as a result of this, stepped up to ADAC GT Masters. From 2020-2022 Schreiner drove in the BMW M2 Cup, Italian GT Championship, the 24H GT Series and the Nürburgring Endurance Series.

This will be Schreiner's final season in F1 Academy as she will reach the upper age limit, so it will be exciting to see how she performs. Commenting on her joining Campos with Sauber, Schreiner said, “I am proud to represent this prestigious team and the Sauber Academy in F1 Academy this year. After an exciting first season, I'm looking forward to getting back to work. Sauber has an impressive motorsport history and I want to play my part in continuing its success story in F1 Academy. My goal for this season is only one: to win, and to do so flying the flag for the team, while generating more awareness for women in motorsport. F1 Academy is a great platform to realize my ambitions, and I am highly motivated to achieve new milestones with my team and Campos Racing.”

Beat Zehnder, Sauber Academy Director, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Carrie to the team, and we are looking forward to our journey together in F1 Academy. Despite her young age, Carrie already boasts an impressive track record, which shows great racecraft and a strong ability to adapt to so many different series. We can’t wait to get started and see what we can build together. With the expertise and the support of our Formula One team, the Sauber Academy, and Campos Racing, entities with decades-long experience in motorsport, we are confident we will achieve great things together.”
